Walter Lindsay Dodds (1913-1996)
My father, known in the family as Wal, was born on 25 June 1913 at Kogarah. His parents were Cecilia Mary Adeline Shepherd and Henry James Dodds, a fourth generation bootmaker. Wal's first job was with W.A. Field, pastoralists at their Sydney office. He then worked for the NSW Transport Department, then for over 30 years at Goodyear Tyre Company, retiring as manager of government sales. He was a very keen golfer, playing every Saturday, and was a foundation member of Beverley Park Golf Club at Kogarah. He was a wonderful father, an expert handyman and very good photographer - many a time my sister Jo and I (and later my daughter Sandy and granddaughter Erin), being posed on tree logs and rocks for the perfect shot!
